Satya Vachan Seminary (SVS) is a church-based seminary and ministry of Satya Vachan Church. The seminary trains men with the hope of equipping them to be biblically-qualified pastors and church leaders (according to 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9) for churches in North India.
- The seminary is a Hindi seminary, but many of the classes are taught in English and translated into Hindi.
- We offer an M. Div. level seminary training, which lasts for three years.
- We follow a cohort model, in which a small group of students (10-15) attends all the courses together for three years.
- The subjects covered during the three years include Systematic Theology, Church History, Biblical Studies, Homiletics, Hermeneutics, Biblical Counselling, Pastoral Ministry, and Biblical Languages.
- Each course is taught in a module that lasts for 1 month.
- Along with attending classes, students are involved in practical ministry and the life of Satya Vachan Church.
Why a Church-Based Seminary?
We believe that churches prepare, train, and produce pastors. The local church is the best context to prepare men for pastoral ministry and church planting. Along with what they learn in the classroom, students learn important lessons about pastoral ministry and the local church by observation. During their training, students of Satya Vachan Seminary are discipled by the elders of the church and church members. The students apply what they learn in the context of the local church. The number of students in each batch is small (10-15 students) so that they can be invested in and discipled well.
Eligibility
The seminary accepts born-again baptised men who have been sent by their local church. Prospective students should have a desire for church planting and pastoral ministry. They should have completed their undergraduate studies. They should know Hindi well and should know English well enough to be able to read and understand lectures. (In case students are weak in English, they can come for an additional year in which they can work on their English.)
